The charity exists purely through donations, coming from audiences that attend performances at Sophie\u2019s Barn, private donations or the sales of the log and play.<\/p>\n
We rely 100% on donations from the public to fund our Charity and 100% of contributions go directly to helping young actors and singers with their training.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
From her earliest childhood, Sophie used to write about things and events and people that interested her, and as she became older she often wrote as well about her own thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n
After her death it was suggested to the Trustees that a book should be compiled of selected writings, poems and diary entries, and sold to raise money for Sophie\u2019s Silver Lining Fund. The finished book, with illustrations also found among Sophie\u2019s papers, was published by Sophie\u2019s Silver Lining Fund in March 1999.<\/p>\n

A play based on \u201cSophie\u2019s Log\u201d was commissioned in 2001 after encouragement from Professor Richard Demarco, an influential member of the Edinburgh arts scene. There is a very small cast; Sophie, aged 19, and Sophie as a much younger person.<\/p>\n
The play called \u2018Sophie\u2019 received its premiere at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival. The Scotsman newspaper gave the play a four star rating and the recommendation that the play was a \u201cdefinite must see\u201d.<\/p>\n
